ReplyDeleteConsider incorporating Parent Involvement nights to bring in those targeted parents. Our campus offers free "child care" and a small dinner funded by the PTA to attract parents. Also, consider having multiple translators or writing a grant for headsets that translate english into spanish so that the parents have a more comfortable experience. Good Luck! Hope that helps.

Davin,
ReplyDeleteLet me suggest that one of your activities involve reaching out to School Board Members and leaders of your targeted communities (City Councilpersons, Chamber of Commerce members, etc.) of the Hispanic culture, for their views on how to increase involvement. I know that they would welcome the opportunity to speak with you and support your research.
Keep us posted!
I attending the Web-Conference tonight at 7:00. Mr.Cortez will be adding a 4th part to the training for the LCE because the state will be asking more questions on site based committees. I also need to contact Roy Benavides because I haven’t been contacted by my University Field Supervisor.
ReplyDeleteI attended the web-conference for EDLD 5352 on Sunday August 5th at 5:00. Several topics were discussed during the meeting. The main topic of discussion was the assignments 3.1 and 3.2 for EDLD 5352. Dr.Abernathy explained that in the 3.1 assignment we are to submit the URL our Team document out of google docs. The next thing she discussed was assignment 3.2. In this assignment we are required to submit the google site URL to our IA that we created. We are supposed to copy and past the information from our Team document in google docs to our google site. The only other topic that was discussed in detail was that our 3 web conference reviews are to be submitted in Week 5.
